Judy Roethe, MS, LPC, CAPSW 

Judy has over 25 years of experience in the mental health field and has been in private practice for 20 years. She has a master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and is certified as an Advanced Practice Social Worker. She has worked in community mental health, including extensive experience in crisis intervention, case management, suicide prevention and crisis counseling. She has extensive experience in working with first responders and law enforcement, including defusings, debriefings and annual wellness checks. Other areas of expertise include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, EAP services and sports psychology.

She prides herself in establishing therapeutic alliances with individuals, couples and families of various cultures. Judy has counseled those experiencing tragic losses, domestic violence and acute mental health symptoms in her work as a social worker in two of Madison’s Emergency Departments. Finally, Judy is an LGBTQ+ friendly counselor.
