Rory Belter, MSW, APSW

Rory (she/her) is a double alumna of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, having recently earned her Master of Social Work degree in 2022. She has nearly two decades of experience working for nonprofits and in various social service roles in Dane County. Her experience spans multiple age groups. Rory has worked in early childhood education to support new parents, caregivers, childcare professionals, and kinship foster parents. Rory is a Dane County Partners for After-School Success AmeriCorps alumna, having worked in local elementary and middle schools to support children through recreation and tutoring. Rory recently interned at the Middleton Youth Center to support middle school youth through recreation, mentorship, and tutoring. She has helped numerous parents and children by providing support for understanding the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process. Rory is experienced working with neurodiverse clients of all ages.

Rory has extensive experience navigating housing for clients, especially those with complex housing histories and those who have experienced recent periods of homelessness. Rory prides herself on bringing enthusiasm and skill to the housing search to help clients navigate their housing future. Rory spent 10 years working at a local domestic violence agency to provide options to those experiencing intimate partner violence and believes peace begins at home. Rory's extensive experience in domestic violence treatment informs her ability to provide trauma-informed care and understand the complex nature of clients who are currently living through physical, verbal, and/or emotional abuse. Rory has also worked in oncology social work to provide support for those navigating cancer, as well as their families and caregivers.

Rory strongly supports the LGBTQA+ community and has experience supporting clients seeking gender-affirming care. Rory believes in holding clients in high positive regard and accepting all emotions clients experience without judgment or attempting to suppress them.
