Theresa Ditlow

Theresa (she/her/hers) has over 10 years' experience in the mental health field. She holds a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology-Chicago and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Theresa has experience working with individuals in a variety of settings including therapeutic day schools, in-home family therapy, ABA therapy, school-based mental health settings, and outpatient psychotherapy. Theresa enjoys working with a variety of clients including children, adolescents, adults, and families. Theresa's experience and clinical interest include working with individuals and families impacted by trauma, anxiety, depression, transitions related to pregnancy and post-partum, grief and loss, parenting concerns, school-based mental health, group psychotherapy, student-athletes, and life transitions. Theresa is nationally certified to provide trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) to children and teens between the ages of 7-18. She has completed the basic training for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and advanced training in the EMDR protocol for recent traumatic events for individuals (R-TEP) and groups (G-TEP). Other treatment modalities Theresa is familiar with include psychodynamic, person-centered psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, motivational interviewing and solution-focused psychotherapy. Theresa's philosophy is that our life experiences can sometimes feel like a puzzle and psychotherapy is a place where we together figure out how all those pieces fit into a bigger picture that will give clients meaning, understanding and empowerment.
